Primer Description

In prayer meetings, we are often hit with all manner of distractions making it challenging to focus on the LORD. In this video Elijah and Heba will share some tips and encouragements how we can overcome distractions when we pray.

• What are some of your biggest distractions in personal prayer? Corporate prayer? How are the similar or different?
• What are things that you have done in the past to intentionally be prepared for a prayer meeting? What are some ways that you can do that now that would specifically help minimize the distractions you face?
• Why is it challenging to set your mind on the LORD in prayer, or to engage in a specific plan like a prayer list or meditation exercise?
• What are some ways you can integrate school requirements or assignments to aid you in that place of prayer rather than take you from it?

Discussion

Focusing when praying or in the prayer room can be so hard. Something practical to do to not get as distracted is to have something in your hand that isn't your phone and one of the things you can have in your hand are little flashcards that you can use to break down Bible verses with.

Once you've written something down ask the Holy Spirit to reveal more to you as you meditate and speak to Him. He is real and even though we can't see Him in that room He’s moving and doing things. Asking Him to reveal himself to us and to reveal his beauty is a great way to connect with him. He gives us grace to do the habits we make to grow more in Him.

Also, something that will help you pray more is having a prayer list. This will help you stay focused and engaged with Him. Also when you’re going through the list and you are praying for yourself put your name in there and proclaim the word over your life.

We need to come prepared and with our hearts and minds ready to engage.
